Follow the steps below to install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN software on an Apple computer.

Installing VPN Software on Windows

To install the Cisco AnyConnect VPN software:

  1. Visit https://vpn.mercer.edu from an off campus location (you cannot connect to VPN or install the client from on campus unless you are connected to the MU-Guest wireless network).
  2. Enter the same username and password used to log into your Mercer computer, MyMercer, and CampusNexus.
  3. Select Faculty/Staff from the Group drop-down menu.
  4. Click Login. Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client will begin installing on your computer. You may have to install the ActiveX Control during the installation.
You will only need to complete this software installation process once.  To access VPN in the future, see Using the VPN Software below.

 

Using the VPN Software

To connect to Mercer's network using the VPN software:

  1. Click the Windows Start button, click on the Cisco folder, and run the Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. You may also click the VPN icon in the system tray next to the clock.

  2. When the following window opens, enter vpn.mercer.edu and click the Connect button.

  3. Enter the same username and password used to log into your Mercer computer, MyMecer, and CampusNexus, and then click the OK button.

  4. When the VPN connection has been established, the icon in the system tray will appear with a locked padlock.
