Student IT Site

All students must register their game consoles with the Information Technology Help Desk. Due to the bandwidth needed for gaming, game consoles must use a wired Ethernet connection. Simply plug an Ethernet cable into your computer and the wall jack with a blue tab (not white). Cables may be purchased at the bookstore or at the Auxililary Services office on the Macon campus; you will also find them at most major retailers.

About Using Game Consoles

In order to protect the integrity of the Mercer network, student computers, and university-owned systems, IT implements comprehensive network security measures on all devices that connect to the Mercer network. Many game consoles, including Xbox, Xbox 360, GameCube, Wii, and PlayStation 2, are capable of connecting to the Internet for gaming, updates, and other purposes. Thus, students must register their game consoles with Mercer IT.

Registering Your Game Console

To register your game console, send an email to the Mercer IT Help Desk. Include your Mercer ID#, the type of game console, and the MAC address of the console. The registration process will be completed within one business day.
