Mercer IT attempts to protect you from spam, viruses, and other scams by filtering spam emails. All Mercer email accounts are protected with Microsoft’s Advanced Threat Protection (ATP). ATP is a cloud-based email filtering service designed to protect your mailbox against malware and other attacks in real time.

Marking an Email as Safe
Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) moves suspicious emails to your Junk Email folder. If an email is quarantined by Advanced Threat Protection (ATP), we recommend that you do not mark it as safe for viewing unless you are absolutely certain it is safe. If you are certain a quarantined email is not junk, follow the steps listed below for marking an email as safe.
Via Outlook Client: In the Junk Email folder, highlight the message and select Not Junk from the ribbon to return the message to your inbox.
Via Internet: In the Junk Email folder, highlight the message and select Not Junk from the menu to return the message to your inbox.
Reporting Emails
While Advanced Threat Protection (ATP) attempts to protect you from spam, viruses, and other scams in real time, it is still possible for messages to make it to your inbox. If you suspect an email as phishing or spam you have multiple options to manually report these instances.
Via Outlook Client:
- Open the suspicious email message, click the Report Message button and select Junk or Phishing. Note: This option is available on Windows and Mac computers.
- Or highlight the message, click Junk from the ribbon, and Report as Junk or Phishing. Note: This option is available on Windows computers only.
Via Internet:
- Highlight the message, click Junk from the ribbon, and Junk or Phishing.
- Or open the suspicious email message, click Junk from the ribbon, and Junk or Phishing.
