Private web browsing allows you to access the Internet without leaving a trace of the sites you visited on your computer. Instructions on how to open a private version of each web browser are listed below. If you would like to clear the history of visited sites after browsing the web normally, directions on how to do so can be found under "Additional Resources" below.

Chrome

  1. Click the settings button in the upper-right corner of Chrome.
  2. Select New incognito window.



Firefox

  1. Click the settings button in the upper-right corner of Firefox.
  2. Click the New Private Window icon.



Internet Explorer 8-11

  1. Click the settings button in the upper-right corner of Interent Explorer.
  2. Mouse over Safety, and select InPrivate Browsing.



Microsoft Edge

  1. Click the settings button in the upper-right corner of Microsoft Edge.
  2. Select New InPrivate window.



Safari

  1. Click Safari's File menu in the upper-left corner of the screen.
  2. Select New Private Window.
