A data ports is a small wall outlet (resembling a telephone jack) that delivers Mercer network (Internet) services to campus locations, including residence halls. In Mercer residences, the data port is labeled with a BLUE tab.

In this section:

Using a Data Port for Internet Services

You will need an Ethernet-enabled computer system and a 10-15 foot Ethernet cable, which connects your computer to the data port. Auxiliary Services sells Ethernet cables for $10.

Once you have the necessary equipment to connect to the Internet, you will have to configure (set up) your computer to connect to the Mercer network. For more information, see Internet/Network.

Troubleshooting a Data Port Connection
