Multi-factor authentication or MFA refers to an additional layer of security that is added to the Office 365 login process. To add this extra layer of security to Mercer’s and your data, Mercer IT is enabling MFA on all student accounts. You are most likely already using MFA on many of your other commercial accounts, such as credit card(s) and bank account(s). This extra layer of security means that even if your password is hacked, your account will remain secure. Note: MFA is required to use the mobile BearCard ID and the Auxiliary Services Bear Card website.


MFA Setup Instructions

  1. Select one of the following as your primary authentication method and follow the instructions:
  2. Follow these instructions to add an alternate email address. If you do not add an alternate email address you will be required to contact the Help Desk in the event your phone is lost or stolen.

  3. If you do not complete the MFA Setup by the deadline provided, your Office 365 applications (e.g., Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, etc.) on each installed device will prompt you to complete the setup..
